Conceptual Photography Workshop: 'Creating Art with Purpose'

If you are a creative, with something to say, who isn't sure how to go about it, I feel you. Maybe you don't even know if you have a message, but you feel a pull towards something deeper with your art.

My workshop, 'Creating Art with Purpose,' is designed not only to teach you how to create conceptual artworks, but to bring you clarity. This is a 2 day, small group photography workshop, packed with information and made as personal to you as possible. We won't be following the standard of all shooting the same thing - you will create and shoot your own personal concept.

My 'Bird's Eye Guide' system will help you to create your own personalised roadmap, that combines who you are, with what you want to say. You will then learn how to take what you've discovered and turn it into artwork that speaks your heart.

This is an intimate workshop setting, designed to enable a maximum of 5 participants to engage and create from a place of authenticity.

Workshop Overview:

In this personal workshop, we will cover my whole process for making conceptual artworks, from inspiration and concepting, to shooting and editing.

The workshop will take place over a weekend. Together we will explore my methods to creating artwork that is authentic to you and connects to your purpose. We will pull inspiration from who each of you are and what is important and valuable to you.

Each participant will develop a concept of their own with my assistance and have the evening to source nature elements from the nearby countryside or props for their shoot the following day. I will also have props on hand that may be used. Each participant is also welcome to bring anything they may like to shoot with to the workshop as well.

Workshop Structure:

Saturday will be learning and concepting, as well as planning your shoot.

On Sunday, each participant will have a 30 minute shoot session with a model, in my studio space, to bring their idea to life.

We will then begin editing and discussing the artworks. We will also have a Q&A session, for any follow up queries.

During this workshop, you will spend time in community with other artists, learn from my creation process, gain fresh inspiration and create a new piece of art that is meaningful to you.

The participants will also be able to send their completed artworks to me via email, within one month of completing the workshop, if they would like any further feedback.

Finally, you will leave the workshop with more clarity on who you are, what you want to say and how to go about it.

“I attended Leigh's workshop and she not only met my expectations but exceeded them. She is extremely structured and has extensive knowledge, which she skillfully conveyed to us. Not only did I walk away from this workshop with valuable information, but I also changed the way I think about my own art. In addition, it was just a lot of fun to get to know Leigh and the other participants, make new contacts, learn from each other, have conversations about art and life and support each other.”

“I couldn't have wished for a nicer first workshop. Leigh is an incredibly likeable person who not only managed to impart an incredible amount of knowledge on the subject of "conceptual photography" in two days, but also created an environment in which the group could try out their artistic skills in a completely uninhibited manner. Thank you for the incredibly great time! (PS.: The pizza was great too! :D)”
